Quick answers to the things people ask most.
No. The game works fully without signing in. Guest players get one free hint per session and can climb the Classic leaderboard with a temporary name. Signing in lets you persist Arcade progress across devices, earn and spend sparks, and keep a permanent leaderboard handle.
Arcade chapters introduce mechanics that compound difficulty. Chapter 3 introduces fog of war. Chapter 6 layers fog and a timer. Chapter 8 mixes fog, timer, and moving walls. A level number alone doesn't tell you which modifiers are active â check the chapter intro or the info button (âšī¸) in the header.
First, try the âē restart button â sometimes you just need a fresh start. If a few attempts haven't worked, tap đĄ hint. The hint reveals the next several correct moves from your current position. If you painted into a corner, the hint automatically backtracks to the last valid point.
Sparks are the in-game currency for hints. One hint costs five sparks. You start with 25 sparks when you create an account. You earn more by clearing boss levels in Arcade â Mini Boss (every 25 levels) gives +1, Chapter Boss (every 50) gives +2, Act Boss (every 200) gives +5.
Not yet. Sparks are currently free-only. We're considering optional purchase options for players who play through hints faster than they earn them, but everything in the game is accessible without spending.
Yes â one free hint per browser session. After using it, sign in to keep earning more.
Quick Match is automatic ranked pairing. You're matched with a similarly rated player for a 7Ã7 medium-difficulty race. Win and lose adjusts your ELO rating, which affects future matchmaking.
Create Room makes a private 6-character code room. Up to 10 players can join. You pick the difficulty and any modifiers (dense walls, moving walls, timer, fog). Custom rooms do not affect rating.
Quick Match holds a 35-second grace period for the opponent to reconnect. After that, you're awarded the win automatically. Custom rooms continue without the absent player â they're marked "did not finish" on the leaderboard.
Yes for Create Room and Join Room. Quick Match (ranked) requires an account so we can persist your ELO rating.
Refresh the page. Solvix runs entirely in your browser, so a refresh resets the puzzle generator state. If it persists, try a different browser; we test on the latest Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.
Single-player modes (Classic, Arcade) work offline after the first load. Multiplayer needs a live connection because rooms sync through our server. Leaderboards also need a connection to submit scores.
The website works great as a Progressive Web App. On iOS Safari, tap Share â Add to Home Screen. On Android, your browser will offer "Install app" automatically. A native iOS app is in the works.
Open the menu in the top-right of the start screen, then "Account Settings". Username changes are allowed once every 15 days to keep leaderboards stable.
